Maris Tasaka joins Papa Ola Lōkahi as a Communications and Community Relations Assistant. She was born and raised on O‘ahu and graduated from Mid-Pacific Institute in 2016. Maris recently graduated from UCLA with a degree in English and a minor in literature and the environment and enjoyed studying how culture impacts peoples' perceptions nature.
In college, Maris spent three years working as a copy editor at UCLA’s student-run newspaper, the Daily Bruin. At Daily Bruin, she liked having the opportunity to stay up to date on the latest issues around campus that were impacting students, while helping to ensure that the news was accurate and inclusive.
Currently, Maris lives in Mānoa with her parents and younger sister, two cats, and dog. In her free time, she enjoys reading everything and baking anything from bread to pastries. We welcome her editorial knowledge and skills to her position at Papa Ola Lōkahi, and we look forward to being introduced to her baked goods!
