Hailing from the outskirts of Wahiawā town and an alumna of both Leilehua High School and Hawaiʻi Pacific University, Chez Neilson is the newest addition to our hale here at Papa Ola Lōkahi.
During her pursuit of higher education, Chez found guidance and support from Dr. Halaevalu Vakalahi and Dr. Tammy Kahalaopuna Kahoʻolemana Martin, who have helped her discover her path. She applied to the Master of Social Work program at Hawai’i Pacific University, where she currently excels in her second year, and serves as the Treasurer for the National Phi Alpha Honor Society.
Chez’s dedication extends beyond academia, as she generously volunteers at Kūkaniloko Birth Stones each month, a commitment she shares with her son and mother. This sacred site holds immense significance, prompting her to organize groups to explore and appreciate its cultural importance.
In moments of leisure, outside of work and studies, Chez enjoys reading a good book or immersing herself in the captivating world of cinema. She particularly enjoys watching movies with her son.
We are so grateful to have her as a Program Assistant within Mauli Ola Mālamalama, our workforce development hale, and can’t wait to see what she does next to uplift the health and well-being of our lāhui!
